Goodie Whemper's Definitive Guide To Writing New Tricks

Educing, Casting and Imbuing thee Trick

Once she has finished designing her Trick, thee witch must next set it in stone. Tricks are very flighty things and do notte care to be bound to stones in this way, but this will not present a problem for a skilled witch. She must then educe her Trick from thee stone, just like she might educe a Spell from thee small hag stones. Be warned: tricks can be Very Big and thee stones explode quite readily. It is Advised that thee witch clear her mind of all competeing spells before attempting to educe thee Trick. After she has done so, she may imbue thee Trick into any other hag stone of this type. This means that other witches may educe it from these stones also. Note: Thee small hag stones are notte clever enough to hold a trick, only thee large hag stones will do so, see page one (1) for notes on identifying and using thee proper stones.

A witch wishing to Surprise her sisters at thee Trials will want to practice where none can see her, of corsue. If her Trick is to be cast upon a Charlie, thee witch will find Unlucky Charlie himself most helpful when practicing, owing to his ability to report what he sees from thee Point of View of thee target. If he prove Unwilling to do so, a good, fearsome Squint will often loosen his tongue.

If thee witch can borrow Old Mother Dismass' specially tuned crystal ball, this will be of great benefit to her also, owing to its Curious Properties. It must be Old Mother Dismass' ball that is used and not a standard crystal ball, nor any ball made out of something other than crystal, for example, a juggler's ball, a hairball, or anything like that.

It is interesting to Note that a Trick wot gains a reputation may eventually grow up and become a real Spell, whereupon it gains an Attitude also. It appears that repeated castings over a great length of time is Key to triggering this exciting Event. [See thee List of Well Known Tricks]
