The Marsh family was founded by Tinsch in Ankh-Morpork
The Marsh family originated in the rain sodden hills between Blackglass and Uberwald. Primarily made up of poor sheep farmers, the name isnt a famous or prestigious one in the area. In fact, the first person to do anything of note was Tinsch who, through a combination of guile and luck, managed to earn a place to study magic at the Unseen University in Ankh-Morpork. Unfortunately, the elite of the university found her Ramtops mannerisms strange and looked down on her, so when she finished her final exams she decided to become a hedge wizard and went her own way.
