Cantankerous, posted on Wed Dec 11 11:46:37 2024 | Posted by: Kake | Category: Waterways (domain pages) | In a few weeks' time, we will be changing all bathroom furniture so that the "fill" command will only work when the furniture item is "plumbed in", i.e. placed as furniture. The reason for this change is that the existence of portable items providing unlimited access to water creates issues with balance that make it harder to (a) maintain existing systems that use or are affected by water and (b) implement new systems that use or are affected by water.
We are aware that this change on its own w...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
Oceanic Dissonance, posted on Sat Oct 26 17:06:48 2024 | Posted by: Kake | Category: Waterways (domain pages) | Some of you will already be aware that a compass plugin for sailing has recently been taken down by its maker, after a conversation with one of our liaisons. For the avoidance of doubt: sailing compass plugins are not permitted, so if you have one installed, please uninstall it.
I have now changed some of the sailing code in order to stop the plugin from working. The reason for doing this is to make sure nobody is breaking the rules accidentally due to not having seen this blog post.
As an un...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
Pressure Drop, posted on Tue Feb 20 10:27:00 2024 | Posted by: Kake | Category: Waterways (domain pages) | The XP reward for sailing has been rebalanced to bring it more in line with other game systems. In particular, it now takes into account the duration of your voyage, in order to ensure that crews of all speeds are given a fair reward for their time.
I've put further details below, but I also want to explain the thinking behind this change, and make it clear what will and will not happen in response to player feedback.
Firstly, the reason for the change. This is a high-XP mission, which means ...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
Fine Till You Came Along, posted on Mon Nov 14 12:26:31 2022 | Posted by: Kake | Category: Waterways (domain pages) | A bug in the baby kraken pet has been fixed, and so interactions between these pets and other wearable pets will now work more consistently. Specifically, wearable pets are intended to attack each other when you wear more than one of them. Before the bug was fixed, you could stop this from happening by wearing the other pet first and the baby kraken second. This inconsistency has been removed, and so the attack will now happen regardless of the order you wear them in. |
Nervous Energy, posted on Thu Nov 3 11:53:51 2022 | Posted by: Kake | Category: Waterways (domain pages) | * A small bug has been fixed in the SS Unsinkable's dragons, which will affect people with very low skills. There was meant to be a skillcheck to see whether you could see any information at all about a dragon's status, but the bug meant that this skillcheck was always succeeding. Wranglers without the skill to pass this check will no longer be able to see the abovementioned information.
* Relatedly, a new command - "check <dragon> [status]" has been added to the dragons to let wranglers see th...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
Gunboat Diplomat, posted on Thu Nov 25 17:06:36 2021 | Posted by: Kake | Category: Waterways (domain pages) | Several sailing-related bugs have been fixed:
Hitting a forward current at the end of a voyage will no longer make the SS Unsinkable leap magically over the port and get stuck on land. If the current would have taken you into port, your voyage will now be correctly completed.
The difficulty of tying crates down was previously very random. It now scales with the number of crates you're trying to tie, though the overall range of difficulty remains the same. This means that people with lower sk...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
Sailing Bugfix For Followers, posted on Tue Jul 13 15:46:05 2021 | Posted by: Capita | Category: Waterways (domain pages) | Fruitbats and mounts and other living followers should now be removed from the SS Unsinkable properly after the mission ends, even if they aren't following you. |
Ring Of Buoyancy Fix, posted on Tue Feb 16 12:11:36 2021 | Posted by: Capita | Category: Waterways (domain pages) | The bug with gold and red coral rings that made them mess up your buoyancy if you wore them into the CTF arena has been fixed. (Note that if your buoyancy is already messed up, it will still be messed up and you will have to get a liaison (or me) to fix it.) |
