What It's For

The loot command is intended to provide an alternative to combinations of aliases and nicknames which are frequently causing performance issues for the mud. It attempts to do this by using a more efficient matching method between the descriptors that the player uses and the objects which the player wishes to retrieve from the corpses of their vanquished foe.

The loot command provides a mechanism to manage an individual list of wanted items. This list can then be referenced as loot in other commands including get, drop, put and recover.

Howto

First you need to either add the descriptions of, register examples of, the items you wish to loot. You will need the example item(s) in your inventory to register them. The register syntax can handle multiple objects, but the add syntax can only add a single description at a time.

To loot coins, 'register coins' will register all denominations of coin in your inventory, whilst 'register <specific coin(s)>' will only register the coins you specify, provided you have them in your inventory. If you try to add coin descriptions, the command will attempt to determine the coins that you are trying to add, but it may not always succeed. Adding coins may be more reliable if you specify a numeric quantity for the coin, for example 'loot add 1 ankh-morpork dollar' is more reliable than 'loot add ankh-morpork dollar'.

Coins will only be looted correctly if the denominations appear in the coin section of your loot list. Please check this after adding coins to ensure that they were correctly added.

Then, whilst embarking on your regular scheduled mayhem and slaughter, you may simply 'get loot from corpses' before burying the corpses of your recently deceased foes, or 'recover loot in / from corpses' after burying them.

You can then 'put loot in packs' (or whatever other containers you use for carrying your loot to your pawn shop, fence, general store or other loot conversion broker of choice.)

Other Features

You may list the descriptors in your list, delete individual descriptors or clear the whole list, and import or merge lists from your registered alts.
