Mushclient Users: Please Clean Your IP Cache!, posted on Wed Sep 18 08:06:56 2024 | Posted by: Pit | Category: General | Hello all,
If you are using Mushclient and find yourself unable to connect to Discworld later today, we advise that you go to File => World properties, where you may find a button "refresh cached IP", which you should press!
Explanation: the MUD is always reachable on discworld.starturtle.net, but to deal with network issues, we sometimes have to change which IP this address points to.
Unfortunately, some MUD clients -- of which Mushclient is the commonly used one -- cache the IP you have connected to before, and would therefore miss the redirect. This can be bypassed by clearing the cache.
If you are using another client and find yourself unable to connect later, please make sure that you are connecting to discworld.starturtle.net, and that neither your client nor your computer is caching the IP address somewhere.

What A Mission!, posted on Wed Sep 11 14:36:18 2024 | Posted by: Fran | Category: Special | Your dedicated creator team has fixed a number of mission related bugs this month. The most notable are:
* A new keyword, $localtime$, has been added to the alias system. Please see "help alias tutorial" for details, in the new section "What Time Did I Do That?"
* A bug in Pennie Laced has been fixed; it is now no longer possible to accidentally find the required item twice by queueing search commands, and hence it is no longer possible to accidentally lock yourself out of getting the mission reward by doing so.
* Dead-letter recipients in Razorback and Giants' Land will now pay in the correct currency.
* Jone Raynaulds will now remind you of your job if you ask.
* Repeating recently completed dead-letter deliveries will now give a hint warning of reduced XP and money.
* The way the debone command works with the parser has been improved. Players who want to debone meat in their inventory but not on the workbench can use the my qualifier to do so, e.g. debone my giraffe hoof on workbench.
* Additionally, deboning now transfers the identify - if it exists - to the resulting hunk of meat.
* The meat grinder and sausage extruder in Sam's backroom have been updated to prevent accidental mixing of meat. To this end you can no longer put anything in them and only one player can use either at a time.
