(Answer) (Category) Discworld Faq-O-Matic : (Category) Getting Around. :
What is a start location, can I set a start location?
A start location (see help start) is where you get put if, for some reason, the game can't put you where it should. For example, if the game crashes (as it does occasionally!) then it may not remember where you logged out, so you would get put back in your start room.

You can choose a start location from a list of possible start locations that you have been to. For example, if I type start, I see:

Your current starting position is the chapel of Pishe in Lancre Forest.
You can also choose your starting position from:

1: the vestry of the temple of Pishe in Djelibeybi
2: the chapel of Pishe in Ankh-Morpork
3: the shrine to Pishe in Bes Pelargic
Choose a new starting position using: start <number>
To clear your list of starting positions, use: start clear

So if I wanted to have a start location in Ankh-Morpork, I would type 'start 2'.
