| Fixing Armour And Shielding Misattribution., posted on Sat Aug 9 09:10:14 2025 | | Posted by: Fran | | Category: Special | We have fixed a long-standing bug in combat messages. If you had a layered set of damage mitigations the combat code would sometimes credit the wrong layer as having stopped the most damage.
This is now fixed.

| A Fresh Coat Of Pain, posted on Sat Aug 9 08:48:33 2025 | | Posted by: Kadath | | Category: Guilds | A new assassin-only command called "coat" has been added. It can be learned at 75 levels of covert.items.poisons and can be learned from a teacher at each of the four specialisations' headquarters. The command allows assassins to coat a suitable weapon with a new type of substance called a blade coating. Coatings have a wide variety of effects and many of them will require some experimentation to discover.
Use "help coat" for the basics of the command. Applicator clothing is available to purc...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
| Every Witch Way, posted on Wed Aug 6 14:32:12 2025 | | Posted by: Stygian | | Category: Guilds | This month's Bugfix Weekend concentrated mostly on the the world of witches. Below are some of the more noteworthy changes:
* NPCs that are both vined and fighting will now show up in the room as "fighting amidst a bunch of vines" rather than just "fighting".
* Attempting to attack fireflies, blue lights and moths (i.e. the magical light-emitting summons) is now PK-checked. In other words, you can only try to attack them if either they belong to you or they belong to someone who you're able...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
| No Longer A Stab In The Dark, posted on Tue Jul 29 20:13:46 2025 | | Posted by: Kadath | | Category: Special | I've updated the 'judge' command so that it is now possible to assess a weapon's suitability for stealthy attacks, such as backstabbing and ambushing.
There's no change to the syntax, you will simply see the additional information if you have a certain level of familiarity with using weapons covertly. The accuracy, like the rest of the command, depends on a number of different factors.
Please note the following:
- There has been no change to any other aspect of judge; the non-covert aspects...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
| Short And Sweet Fix Notifications, posted on Thu Jul 24 22:49:45 2025 | | Posted by: Evensong | | Category: General | I have now cleaned up the mess I left last time I played with the code. I've probably left a whole new mess but progress is progress :)
First of all, the recent change to allow people who had missed the chance at the addiction achievements meant that no-one could gain the achievements. This has now been sorted.
Secondly, Fools who had Faces that required an accessory worn on the face/head didn't get their benefit from wearing their face because they were wearing something on their face/head. ...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
| Helpless In The Face Of Your Beauty, posted on Thu Jul 17 16:34:36 2025 | | Posted by: Kake | | Category: General | Over the years, the effects of MMM on NPCs and on players had drifted apart unintentionally. This has now been fixed, and so, for example, NPCs can no longer backstab while under the influence of MMM.
Two new souls have been added: "coo" and "dust". Relatedly, the syntax for using the feather duster has been changed to "dust X with duster" (rather than just "dust X").
The guards who spawn in the offices of the Coffee Nostra officials (consiglieres, accountants, etc) were not always joining in...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
| Seeking Screenreader Users To Apply As Playtesters, posted on Mon Jun 30 17:19:53 2025 | | Posted by: Kake | | Category: General | Do you use a screenreader to play the MUD? Would you ever consider applying as a playtester?
If your answer to both of these questions is yes, then the PT domain admin would love to hear from you! We don't currently have any PTs who use screenreaders, and we'd like to fill this gap in our team.
You can talk to Kake, Mauve or Pokey for more information, or check out the resources under the Playtesting menu on the MUD website, or just take the plunge and use the "apply" command.
Please note th...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
| Added Value, posted on Wed Jun 25 12:02:00 2025 | | Posted by: Kake | | Category: General | Vessels (i.e. liquid-containers such as cups, buckets, bottles, etc) can now be manually filled when you're in a water room using the syntax "fill <object> from here".
Honeycombs can now be referred to as "full honeycomb" or "empty honeycomb" as appropriate.
Barbarian-themed saddlebags are now sold at the summer and winter Hublandish Barbarian camps.
Flowers braided into your hair are no longer visible when you're wearing something that covers your hair. |
| A Fine Disregard For Awkward Facts, Part 2, posted on Fri Jun 13 11:30:10 2025 | | Posted by: Kake | | Category: General | As I blogged about last month, we recently identified a long-standing bug that was sometimes letting objects be put inside containers when they shouldn't have fitted due to length and width restrictions.
For the past two weeks, the MUD has been giving a WARNING to anyone who managed (due to this bug) to put an over-large item inside a container it shouldn't fit into. This was done in order to let people check whether they had been unwittingly taking advantage of this bug, and if so, to make any...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
| The Fix Is In, posted on Wed Jun 11 15:49:09 2025 | | Posted by: Stygian | | Category: General | This month's Bugfix Weekend involved fixes across the Disc. Below are some of the most noteworthy:
* Mrs Cosmopilite's branch in Holy Wood has begun to rotate its stock a little more frequently.
* The dogs from Peter Periwinkle's pet shop will now respond to a wider range of souls (try barking and howling at them, for example). Also, a bug has been fixed that was making some of them try to pick up things from the floor that were too heavy; those that do pick things up will now target lighter ...Read The Rest Of This Entry |
