| Every Witch Way, posted on Wed Aug 6 14:32:12 2025 | | Posted by: Stygian | | Category: Guilds | This month's Bugfix Weekend concentrated mostly on the the world of witches. Below are some of the more noteworthy changes:
* NPCs that are both vined and fighting will now show up in the room as "fighting amidst a bunch of vines" rather than just "fighting".
* Attempting to attack fireflies, blue lights and moths (i.e. the magical light-emitting summons) is now PK-checked. In other words, you can only try to attack them if either they belong to you or they belong to someone who you're able to attack (e.g. the owner is an NPC, or the owner is a player and you're in the same PK league as them). It is still strongly advisable not to try attacking these summons at all.
* You can no longer fly, fuel or recall locations from a broomstick while under the influence of Mugwuddle's Muddling Mirage. You can still shake it, but you might not find the feedback as useful as when you're in your right mind.
* Broomsticks were sometimes being jump started instead of bump started. They are now always consistently bump started. (This is just a wording change.)
* Goodie Whemper's Apple Divination will now reveal the name of the owner of a djinn weapon. Note that the weapon must have been presented to someone for this to work; a weapon that has not been presented does not consider itself to have a "proper" owner yet.
* Banishing of Loquacious Spirits will now remove the effects of Independent Recurring Vocaliser.
* Banishing of Unnatural Urges will now fail before the end of the casting process if you're speaking a language that you have zero spoken levels in. (Even a single level is enough, though - the imps will get the gist.)
* Attempting to tempt when speaking a language that you have zero spoken levels in will now tell you that, rather than just falling through to the tempt soul. (It will still fail, as before this change; it'll just fail more nicely. But again, even a single level is enough - the victim will get the gist.)
* The "score" command will now remind supplicating players which deity they are actually supplicating, rather than erroneously claiming that they are not worried about any deity's approval.
* You can now use a suitably-fuelled-up swamp dragon to light fireplaces.
* A new soul, "fawn", has been added.
* The plain leather headband has been adjusted so that it no longer removes itself from being worn if another unarmed aid is worn at the same time. It will, however, stop working and give you a message to indicate this is the case. Once you have removed the offending items, you can now 'retie' the headband to gain its effects once more. In addition, a new line in its long description will indicate whether its effects are currently active or not. No changes have been made to the actual benefits/drawbacks of using the headband.
* The blood red amulet has been tweaked to make the underlying code more reliable and to make it play nicely with Divine Ire. An error has been fixed that made it give more of a benefit against trolls than was originally intended (it still gives some, but now it gives the intended amount), but the gp cost to activate it has been reduced as it was unnecessarily high previously.
