Hello all!

There have been some changes to the way teaching works. Specifically:

* The goodness of teachers is now capped based on your own bonus.

* Teachers can specialise in a skilltree. The cap is higher for skills in the tree they specialise in.

* Both the teaching XP and the learning cost formulas have been adjusted slightly.

* There is now a "teachers" command to help you find online teachers for skills you want to learn.

To help those who manage learning-oriented websites, we will publi...

Hello all!

As part of some updates to furniture, several beds have been improved: you can now put things on them! This may prove quite useful for those of you who would like to have a pillow on their bed. :)

Unfortunately, as an unintended side effect of this change, many existing beds have become unplaced...

So, for those of you houseowners who have beds in their houses: please check in your house if the bed is still properly placed. If not, just replace it; the placement should not be lost ...

For the 4th year anniversary of the Fools' Guild, its primary guild command has received some upgrades.

Most importantly, the skillchecks for juggling multiple and non-round objects have been increased, and it is now more likely that you will kill yourself if you're going to juggle knives or other sharp objects.

Happy juggling!

P.S. Okay, okay, we also added some new juggling patterns. Go ask Auguste to teach you.

Hello all,

We have made a number of small changes to the skill tree and to some guild

primaries:

* We have removed fighting.range.bow, and merged existing levels into the

fighting.range.fired skill, considering the relative XP costs of both skills to

replace players' existing levels. Guilds which had fighting.range.bow as a

primary now have fighting.range.fired instead.

* We have removed both people.culture.djelian and people.culture.ephebian, and

moved existing levels into the new s...

After a meeting on Cori Celesti, Gapp, Sandelfon, Fish and Hat have decided to be a bit more tolerant of their followers' shifts in alignment.

Hence, priests of these gods should now find it a bit easier to stay in your gods' good graces!

The score align command now reflects the new status quo more accurately.

Changes To PK, posted on Wed Dec 23 15:04:35 2020

(The information in this blog post has largely been posted to the boards before,

but since the boards scroll fast we replicate it here.)

Hello everyone!

After many discussions we have decided to make some significant changes to the

way Playerkilling works in Discworld.

Most importantly at this moment:

* Assassins and wizards of the last order no longer have a PK requirement.

* Everyone is free to stop being PK using the command "clan leave".

However, if you do so you will not be allowed to ...

Warning: A Fix To Over-full Vaults, posted on Fri Dec 4 22:52:19 2020

Bing!

We have fixed a bug in vaults (and similar storage places like high priest wardrobes) which caused most of the checks on whether an item can be put in to be bypassed.

This bug not only led to rather curious situations like a complete elephant corpse fitting into a small drawer; more importantly, it also meant that people could put more items in than the MUD can load in one go -- potentially leading to items being quietly lost when the vault is opened again.

So, please be aware that if a va...

Hello everyone!

The annual PK weekend will take place on 6 and 7 June 2020. During this weekend, everyone can choose to be PK for a few days, and be back to normal afterwards.

This year's event will give you more control than the ones before. You will be able to permit specific people to fight with / steal from you, and also completely stop being PK before the end of the weekend. More details will follow closer to the time.

We ask all players who participate to keep the event fun. Griefing act...

Frank, the Semior Postman in charge of the dead letter office, has changed the policies in regard to difficult customers somewhat.

He will now allow for much less time to deliver these letters, and also give a lesser reward. He hopes that this will allow a greater variety of post office epmloyees to try their hand at hunting down these difficult addresees.
