A Case Of Scope Creep, posted on Wed Oct 22 08:40:34 2025

The case and scope commands have been reworked with a view to making them a bit more useful overall.

The case command will now let you specify a particular item you want to target and will allow you to assess your chances of acquiring it by either snatching or stealing (where "stealing" encompasses both the steal and filch commands). Information will only be given for valid commands, so you will not get a result for the "snatch" command when casing a worn item of clothing, for example.

The scope command now has an additional syntax of "scope security measures". This will let you assess whether a shop's security has been raised as a result of other thieves having shoplifted there recently. With sufficient skill, you will be able to mitigate some of the increased security measures so that your own shoplifting attempts are not penalised as much.

The helpfiles for both commands have been updated with the new syntaxes, a more detailed explanation and some examples. Please give them a read.

Enjoy!
